Hi there. I am a 43 year-old white-collar professional who is looking to collaborate with others who are serious about making music. Experience has shown that my primary strengths are (1) creating melodies and interesting harmonies; (2) creating chord progressions that flow well; (3) singing (though I’ll let you be the judge of that, addressed below); (4) mixing, and (5) accurate guitar finger picking. I have no kids nor many other hobbies, so I am looking for someone who can spend like time working on music. Drums, keys, bass, and another guitarist would be perfect. Not into EDM, R&B, or rap.

Here’s my Soundcloud page; the 3 spotlight tracks most represent what I want to continue doing, though I expect others to push me to evolve via collaboration:

And here's a write-up about me on a small music blog:

My style is what I call “mellow intensity.” Rather than having a few dramatic hooks and climactic flashes, my style attempts to put the listener on an emotional frequency, and lets them simmer there. This feel is somewhat similar to that of War on Drugs and Beck (Morning Phase and Sea Change albums). I see little need for formulas tailored for low attention spans (chorus must come within 45 seconds!) or the over-stimulated (needs more flashy drum fills!). I don’t like an over-polished sound, and I find I like to keep many errors in. And I don’t think being “original” or “clever” is a good goal in making music, though these things are great if they’re incidental. So I’m not interesting in obsessing about being different. What I care about is RESONANCE. So I wouldn’t work well with folks who think that for something to be good it has to be either weird or demonstrate extreme technical skill. As an example of the brilliant simplicity I admire, see this:

I’m seeking to connect others who want to get together to work; to be productive in creating quality, resonant, original tracks, rather than to just jam aimlessly because it’s fun. Granted, jamming is often what gives rise to great ideas, so purposeful jamming is more than welcome. But I am driven to ultimately perform, to record a band EP, and to fast track both. I have performed my own work at open-mics, but I'm not super experienced. I have, however, been told that my abilities make me sound much more experienced than I am, especially my guitar playing. I'm reliable, on-time, sober, and I have no drug habits.

I am open to good ideas for adding more energy to these tracks, or to simply start from scratch with others to see what we can come up with. I use Logic Pro with some good plugins, as well as an SM-7B and Apollo Twin interface. I also have a Korg Triton, which is way too awesome for me to figure out (I’m not a keyboard player).
