The American Double Fat Strat was built from mid-2000 to mid-2003. Same electronics and pickups (Seymour Duncan '59 neck, Pearly Gates+ bridge) as the Big Apple Strat.
Seymour himself went on record about this guitar: "I dug the Big Apples (Double Fats), and not just 'cause they used our pickups. I like humbuckers in a Strat pretty much all the time. But it had interesting switching too. (Split-coil combinations in positions 2 and 4.)They were pretty much as ideal as Fender could make a Strat, to me."
The switching he referred to: The standard Strat two tone and one volume controls are linked to a five-way pickup selector and unique wiring:
Position 1: Full bridge humbucker
Position 2: Two inside single-coils (half bridge, half neck hum-cancel single-coil sound)
Position 3: Both full humbuckers
Position 4: Outer neck single-coil (split neck HB coils, for single-coil neck sound)
Position 5: Full neck humbucker
Frets were recently crowned and polished. Comes in a Fender Strat case. This is an excellent pro-level strat.
