Original owner, purchased new in 2011. No mechanical issues of any kind. Mostly all of the 120,000 miles are highway miles. The bike was used mostly for long distance travel and has been to all four corners of the continental U.S. My reasons for selling are that I bought another R1200RT, same year, fewer miles and I simply do not need two.

This motorcycle is BY FAR the best, most reliable motor vehicle that I have ever owned. After the break in period, the oil and filter have been changed every 3000-4000 miles. I use Mobil 1 synthetic exclusively. Valves have been checked or adjusted along with complete fluid change every year. The last valve adjustment was done in August of last year.

List of problems I’ve had: At 5,000 miles the right control switches failed and were replaced under warranty. At 100,000 miles the rubber swingarm boot cracked and was replaced. Last year the alternator failed and was replaced. It is on it’s 3rd battery.

I would NOT hesitate to get on this motorcycle and ride to ANY point on ANY map.

It will need new tires in the next 4000-5000 miles. It will probably need new brake pads in the next 5000-10,000 miles.
