We’re hiring experienced Mini Excavator Operators to join our crews immediately.
What you’ll do
- Safely operate 3–6 ton mini excavators (Takeuchi/Cat/Deere/Kubota or similar) for trenching, boring pits, and site work
- Excavate to line/grade, pothole/daylight existing utilities, and maintain trench safety
- Set and level telecom vaults/handholes, pedestals, and pull boxes; backfill and compact to spec
- Pull fiber/conduit; install mule tape, locate wire, and place marker posts as directed
- Perform fine grading, backfill/compact, restore sites, and manage spoil
- Read plans and follow marks; set levels; maintain daily logs as directed
- Load/unload equipment, secure loads, and move trailers as permitted/licensed
- Conduct daily inspections (fluids, tracks, pins, hydraulics) and keep machines clean
- Assist crew with hand digging, setting boxes/plates, pulling conduit/fiber, and traffic control
What you bring
- 1+ year recent experience operating mini excavators on utility/civil jobs
- Strong damage-prevention mindset; knows 811/One-Call and safe potholing
- Able to read plans, shoot grade, and dig around live utilities with care
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; clean MVR required for driving roles
- Able to work outdoors in all weather, lift 75 lbs, and work 8–12 hour days as needed
- Nice to have: CDL A, experience with skid steers, trenchers, hydrovac.
Schedule, pay, and perks
- Full-time, Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays; overtime after 40
- Pay DOE: $20–$30/hr + OT
