Just a quick reminder that the car boot sale is tomorrow (sunday 28th June) at the MarBon Cafe at 12018 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133 between 10am - 4pm.

We have various sellers due to be there selling some great things.
Doherty & Sullivan's Irish Goods from Lees Summit will be there selling some great gear including shirts, hats, jewelry, and some British foods that some of us miss.

There will also be an British author selling his books.

Have you ever wanted a great handmade wooden pen ?. Well, you'll be in luck tomorrow as a local bloke will also be setup selling his wonderful pens that he has handcrafted.

We're also expecting a local pet adoption centre to be represented at the venue, and some of their rescues will be in the Brit's International tent, so pop in, and see all of their animals.

Whilst in the tent we'll have a few things to sell, and I'll be on hand to answer any questions you may have on club events, rules, the new website usage, and such.
We'll also have the "Royal British Legion" poppies on hand that you can get for a monetary donation.

Does anybody else get the impression this community is a cult? I've gone a few times, though not recently. They used to host an active discussion board online, but once it got interesting (with a diversity of opinions), they shut it down! According to John Bradshaw, that's the first sign of a cult - insular/insulated community, eliminate dissension, keep it insular. (keep in mind, Bradshaw is using a broader definition of cult than most people - he refers to family systems that are cults as well).

They used to have energetic young people doing community activities - such as a Saturday "car day", when community members brought in their vehicles for a wash & oil change in the church parking lot. They shut down all community programs like this. In fact, they don't participate at all in the neighborhood association, the neighborhood garage sale (last weekend), any of the 39th street activities, they don't interact with other churches in the neighborhood, businesses, etc.

I have talked to many people at the church about these concerns - with NO reply or concern at all! In fact, one person (I won't name names, but he is a minister there) told me that they "chose their relationships wisely"... so does this mean they're snobs? Or that they don't want any outside influences "corrupting" their congregation?

They used to have a packed house on Sunday nights - now it's just a few hundred people. But they don't even seem to care about anyone except for the "die hard" members. They take a very fundamentalist view - if you're not evangelizing (and, I suppose, giving them money, they simply don't care about you).

Most importantly, I listen to Pastor Tim on the radio Mondays. Well, I used to. I just can't stand him! He tries to sound so "philosophicalistic" (and sounds like an idiot while doing so). But he answers every question from the host or callers with "We believe..." and "We do X, Y, & Z", as if he has no personal beliefs or opinions, just groupthink. And he's SOOO full of himself. Someone close to him (a charter member of the church) once told me he thinks of himself as a rock star, and sure enough, he has the ego to match! But he doesn't want to talk to anyone who might question this persona.

Would anyone be interested in a Country Western bar in the Spring Hill area? I am thinking of opening a Bar and Grill in Spring Hill and want the public's opinion. It would be a place where you , your family and friends can have a excellent dinner and enjoy a band, karoke, and dancing. A place where you can have a good steak or maybe even shrimp and crab legs. And a place where you can have a fun night out drinking in good company with friendly bartenders and servers. I want this to be a place where you can have fun and enjoy lifes little pleasures. Let me know if you are for or aginst this idea. I know Spring Hill has one bar but they don't serve food. There is K&M's but BBQ gets old after a while. Then there is El Tap and they are not the best.( In my opinion). I think that Spring Hill needs a good steak house. What about you?

Dr. Mike Jurkovich is joining our team at Mercy and Truth Medical Missions as our new Executive Director. All of us at MTMM are welcoming him and looking forward to growing in strength, wisdom and organization with his leadership.

Dr. Jurkovich has a passion for non-profits and his work history demonstrates this from his long history of service as COO at Catholic Charities to aiding the George W. Bush administration in the faith based initiative, and supporting legislature in Kansas in projects such as the Pregnancy Maintenance Initiative. He also comes to Mercy and Truth Medical Missions with a 30+ year background in healthcare. He has spent the last 10+ years with Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as their Director of Healthcare Services, leading a staff of over 150 and serving over 4,000 patients annually. Additionally, Mike has operated a small non-scheduled airline, his own private Dental practice in Overland Park and served as a shift supervisor for the Laboratory at KU Med Center. Mike has a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has completed a Fellowship in Hospital Dentistry, serving on the medical staff of Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from the University of Kansas in Medical Technology and is a Registered Medical Technologist and Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Hannah�s Heart hosts Event to help Special Needs Children!

On June 20th at the Onyx Theatre in Oak Grove Missouri, Hannah�s Heart Art & Resource Center will host a live event to raise money for Special needs and Underprivileged children. The Event will start at 10:00 a.m. and go until about 7:00 p.m.

This event will feature a silent auction/live auction, fashion show, talent competitions, performers, vendors, and a lot of fun stuff for the whole family.

The Silent Auction will include a lot of wonderful items. Most of which are being provided by a wonderful organization headed up by talented former Kansas City Chiefs star Anthony Davis called ADA Charities & Fundraising www.adafundraising.com . We have an electric guitar signed by Roy Clark, Mel Tillis, Leroy VanDyke, and Kevin Black (so far), but that is just one of many items to be auctioned off. We have sports memorabilia from Kansas City Chiefs, MU, KU, Pro Golf, Pro Basketball, The Kansas City Royals, and much more. The silent bidding will start at 10:00 a.m. and the LIVE auction will start during the finale of the event.

The Girls Gone Mild Fashion Show is to promote our beautiful ladies in clothing that is more..age appropriate. This one should be a lot of fun. All of the clothing is being donated and the girls will actually be able to keep their outfits. To register for the fashion show call 816-847-0721 and ask for Sheree Foster.

The Hannah�s Heart Talent Search will be divided up into two categories. Kids and Adults. This one should be very entertaining and a whole lot of fun as well. So since this economic crisis these employers have been shutting down departments or laying off people. They then go and hire some person to do the same job just at a lower cost. Now what this does is keep the money in the pockets of the rich justifying that in this country the "rich get richer and the poor get poorer." Now I have no problem with people making money but in my eyes if the rich weren�t so greedy and paid the poor better the rich in turn would be even richer because the poor would be able to buy more. So here's what I'm saying you guys have plenty of money so what's it going to hurt if you actually pay us a wage we can live on. We are one of the main reason why your in business, we do what you don�t want to and we buy what you are selling. I just think a simply question to yourself �would I have ever worked this hard or done this much for this amount of pay? If the answer is yes then fine but if not man what�s it going to hurt just a couple of dollars to you that in the long run would make back. Well I hope someone reads this and helps someone out and we can get back to taking care of our neighbors and start making the USA an even better place.
