Yes, according to Reuters, you can now book 3 days at a “space hotel” for $4,400,000 for 3 nights per person. Or, you can take your whole family to the Caribbean island paradise of Dominica at Belle Cote Villa for just $1,200 per week. Beyond the price, which is the better deal, let’s see:
VIEWS:
Space Hotel – 80 sunrises per day
Belle Cote – Only one a day
I regret to say, I’d give the space hotel this point but at Belle Cote you can sit on the balcony with fresh fruit and coffee, listening to the birds waking up, and see some of the most beautiful sunrises on earth.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Space Hotel – Pod room.
Belle Cote – 3 full bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, full kitchen, a huge great room, private swimming pool and plenty of “space”.
I feel that Belle Cote wins this point.
FOOD
Space Hotel - Prepackaged frozen food.
Belle Cote - Fresh natural foods grown on the island, caught from the sea or raised locally and a huge kitchen with everything you need to make dining wonderful.
You’ll probably eat in your space suit in your room whereas at Belle Cote you can choose the dining table, the upper balcony, or by the barbeque by the pool. And at Belle Cote you can dine at a local restaurant to further savor the local Caribbean fare. I’m not sure what restaurants they’re offering in space, but you’ll likely find a McDonalds.

DRINK:
Space Hotel - I don’t imagine that you’ll find good beer or rum punches.
Belle Cote - when you arrive there’s a few Kubuli’s (a wonderful local beer made by Guinness Brew Masters) to start you off. The fresh fixings for Rum Punch are available everywhere.
Point to Belle Cote (I, personally, would give this 2 points when on vacation)
ACTIVITIES:
Space Hotel - Looking out the window at earth and the stars, nice view at a distance, with no space walks. At the space hotel guests “wear Velcro suits so they can crawl around their pod rooms by sticking themselves to the walls like Spiderman.” I guess that counts as an activity.
Belle Cote - Beaches, waterfalls, rainforests, and amazing hikes to places like the Boiling Lake, great diving and snorkeling. Dominica is known as the “Nature Island of the Caribbean”.
You may be able to play checkers with other guests at Space Hotel. Oh, BTW, we have Checkers too.

Space Hotel - 8 weeks of training, who gets that much vacation?
Belle Cote - Pack your swim suit and catch a flight, about 1 day.
