P4 2.4 GHz, 256 MB RAM, DVD burner, TV tuners, cool case, etc - $100 (Overland Park)
I built this PC myself back in 2002 or 2003. It has served me well but has recently stopped booting up. I have narrowed the problem down to one of three things: 1) The processor has died, 2) Some hardware problem with the motherboard, or 3) bad stick of RAM. I have disconnected everything from the motherboard except the CPU and RAM, it will not POST at all, no messages or beeps are heard. If I remove the CPU, BIOS will immediately play the sound saying CPU not installed. Therefore, this computer is dead as-is.
I have never had stability problems with this computer until just now, and I just don't have the time to fix this machine. If you have a P4 (mPGA 478) CPU hanging around, this machine will probably be up and running again. I don't have one and I will be moving soon, so I'd rather just sell this computer so I don't have to move it.
Motherboard - Asus P4T533-C - Intel 850E chipset, 400/533 MHz front side bus support, 800/1066 MHz Rambus memory support, 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 built onto motherboard, 2 from included expansion slot insert), 4 USB 1.1 ports (2 built onto motherboard, 2 from front connector on PC case, 8 total USB ports), 6 channel audio, Asus Ez-flash, Asus Q-fan technology, and Asus POST reporter. There are 4 total RAM slots, 1 AGP 2x/4x slot, 5 PCI slots, and 3 total fan connectors built onto the motherboard (1 for CPU fan, 2 for case fans) that can monitor fan speeds using software included on the driver CD. This motherboard also contains a lot of options in the BIOS for overclocking, as well as many other settings. There are two RS-232 ports, 1 parallel port, and line in, microphone, and speaker ports, PS/2 mouse port, and a PS/2 keyboard port on the motherboard also. Additionally, there is a 10/100 ethernet network port built in, so it can easily be connected to your home network. This was a top of the line motherboard back when I purchased it. Intel Pentium 4 CPU - Clock speed of 2.4 GHz. Runs with a 533 MHz front side bus. mPGA 478 socket type.
256 MB Kingston RAM - Two sticks of 128 MB of 1066 MHz RD-RAM. RD-RAM was able to achieve much better performance over its predecessors because it was used in pairs (what would be called "dual channel" in todays computers). Also includes two RAM simulator sticks, which are required to be in the empty slots on the motherboard. Pictures: 1
Raidmax ATX case with 420 watt power supply - This is a nice ATX style case with a clear side window and 3 clear case fans, one of which is mounted on the side and has red LEDs in it, and 2 black case fans with motherboard connectors (not sure if these are working, I unplugged them because with so many fans and the computer being in my bedroom, it was a little loud for sleeping). There are a total of 7 places for 80mm case fans (4 front, 2 back, 1 side). There are four 5-1/4" slots for devices such as DVD-ROMs, two 3-1/2" slots for floppy drives, and four 3-1/2" slots for internal devices (hard drives, can also put hard drives in the two floppy drive slots). There is a front door on the case that swings open/closed that hides all the external drive bays and power buttons but still allows easy access. There is also a door covering 2 front USB ports, 1 headphones port, and 1 microphone port. The case is a very nice and shiny silver color, and the lights on the front are blue and red. The blue light is centered on the front of the door in a circle that lights up a logo, this light is on whenever the power is on. There are two red lights for HDD access and they are located in the moon shaped areas on the door. The power supply is rated at 420 watts and has the standard amount of connectors, and also has two fans on it to keep it nice and cool. I've gotten many compliments on this case over the years! ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 graphics card - This card has 64 MB or RAM and fits in AGP 2x/4x slots. This one includes a built on TV-tuner and video capture connectors, as well as s-video output. There is a DVI connector and a DVI to VGA adaptor, allowing you to connect to a VGA monitor or even the newest DVI LCD monitors. I think the TV tuner does not work properly anymore (I could only get static last time I tried), but the other input sources should still work fine (you can connect devices via S-video and composite inputs/outputs). Also features an ATI RF Remote control. This remote control works through floors/walls/etc from pretty far distances, and not only controls the included ATI software, but you can download plugins to do all kinds of things (like control your music in Winamp). It has a touchpad that can move your mouse cursor and buttons for left/right click and click-and-hold, and programmable buttons to do whatever you want. Since the TV-tuner portion is not working, I'm also throwing in an ATI PCI TV-Wonder VE that I had sitting around. I haven't tested/used it in several years, but I believe it still works. Sony 3-1/2" floppy drive - Not much to say here except that I rarely used it. Should still be in perfect working order. Has a white front bezel. Picture
Mitsumi 3-1/2" floppy drive - This came out of an old PC that was given to me, I have no idea if it works, but I don't need it so I'm including it here. Has a beige bezel.
Pioneer 16x DVD ROM - This is an internal drive, connects via IDE cable. Up to 16x read speed. Will read DVD-RW but not DVD+RW I believe. This drive plays DVD movies as good as any other, and the bezel color does not look beige but it's not quite white either, not sure what it would qualify as, maybe it's just my bad eyes. Picture
NEC 3500A Silver DVD Writer drive - This is a very popular and good drive I purchased in 2005 (if I had another computer to put it in, I'd keep it). It is internal and connects via IDE cable. I don't remember all of the burn speeds but it is capable of burning at 16x on DVD-R discs, can burn and read DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW (that's pretty much every kind of CD and non-high-def DVD worth talking about). I believe the CD-R burn speed is 48x max. This drive has a silver bezel and matches the case perfectly. It's also extremely quiet! Picture
Cables - I will include a nice black Asus flat IDE ribbon cable, a black Asus floppy drive cable, and a red rounded IDE cable, along with all of the other cables and adapters that belongs to all the hardware mentioned here. I've got several extra IDE cables sitting around that I don't mind getting rid of either, and a couple old parallel port printer cables I don't need. Pictures: 1, 2
Other - I have an old PS/2 keyboard, I don't need it anymore but don't plan on including it since it is pretty old and dirty, but still works great. If you want it, I'll throw it in. I also have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, also pretty old and looks pretty warn, but it's a great mouse. It is optical and USB, I have a PS/2 adaptor for it. I also did not plan on including it because I like it so much and can still use it. However, for an extra $5 I'll let it go. Also not included but available is a 19" Gateway CRT monitor. It's pretty heavy (and old) but has a great picture and supports 1600 x 1200 resolution. I have a family member to give it to, but for $35, I'll give it to you.
I am not including a hard drive or operating system with this, I still have data I want to keep from the hard drive. If you have any questions, please ask. I can provide much higher resolution pictures or take more pictures if needed. I'd like to sell all of this stuff to one person, but if that doesn't work, I would be willing to sell items separately. All items are sold as-is, cash only.
