I cannot fulfill my lease at the Oak Place apartments on Oak Street on the UMKC campus. It's a 4-bedroom/4-bathroom. You pick your own roommates by looking through their profiles. All utilities (cable, high speed internet and electricity) are included. You have your own private bathroom, of course. There is a washer-dryer, a microwave and a dishwasher. The apt. is fully furnished, with a suede couch, coffee table, entertainment center, and two dining stools, and the room has a bed, a small dresser and a desk (they come with the place, these are not mine and I have hardly used them). The neighbors are quite and my roommate is a graduate student. You can purchase covered parking in a gated garage for $50 a month more. I am now faculty at UMKC and would like to move out of the student domain.

We have a large restored solid stone home and have a room/workshop connected to our home that you can stay in if you need a place. It has electricity and we can provide a television and cable; and even a refrigerator and microwave once we know we can trust you. It needs to be cleaned out and worked on and we can provide you the supplies. It doesn't have it's own plumbing though, but it'd be free in trade for cleaning it up and making it nice; and when the wife is at work, I can let you in to shower from time to time.
Our home is very nice , but this is a workshop connected to the basement that we've never used but for storage. It has no access to inside the house and you would have a key so that you could come and go as you please.
You could stay there as long as you want provided that you do the regular chores to fix it up and if it works out and you like your room, to do an occasional weekly chore in the future. We feel that in order to help someone, we want someone that is willing to help themselves.
Our home is very safe as we have security cameras, lit outdoor lights, a large privacy fence, motion detectors with our security system and we're on a busy lit street. (we're on 55th and parallel in Kansas City Kansas)
We do have a 2 year old daughter and 2 dogs. I'm a former Army officer, a gun owner, 6'1" 235 lbs, and will protect my family however for the right person, this might be a way for you to get back on your feet rent free.
I have a attorney brother with Ivy league schooling, connections to local law enforcement, we will do a background check and if you have a felony in your past, you will not be welcome (alcohol and drugs will not be permitted on the premises). You won't be responsible to pay a single $ and will be welcome as long as you're responsible and manage to stay out of our hair. (The room has no access to our home and you'll have a key to come and go as you please).
This room/workshop needs some work to make it hospitable, however we will pay for and supply any supplies you need to do the work. It has a fan, electrical outlets, 2 benches, and we will supply a free television, cable tv, a mini refrigerator and even a computer and free internet once we know we can truly trust you.
One the workshop is fixed up and to yours and our likings, the only thin we ask for in the future is 3-4 hours a week of chores around our home. We don't really need anything done, however we do firmyl believe that charity needs to go to a worthy person that wants to better themselves and not someone looking to freeload off society.

If you're interested and willing to make that room livable, you're welcome to use it until you get back on your feet.

The community is great and all use of facilities are available with rent.

I would like to keep the apt furnished with my furnishings if anyone is interested in getting a place already furnished. The furniture is modern, contemporary and in great condition (only 10 months old). You can rent it with the option to buy the furniture which is included in the rent as furnished or you may purchase furniure outright and the rent would be $1340.
