I think you have missed my point in saying that if God is real then all we need to do is pray to heal sickness. If everything was designed by God rather than evolved, then that would make the rest of the claims made by God true as well. As the bible teaches, sickness is punishment from God and can be healed by asking his forgiveness through prayer. In reality, we know that praying to God to heal sickness does absolutely nothing because there are microscopic germs and virii that are the cause of sickness. If science had remained complacent with "God dun it" as an expanation for everything, we would probably still have a life expectancy of a mere 40 years as we did a few hundred years ago.
The fact is that God is indeed a delusion as Richard Dawkins has explained in his book. You go through life presupposing that God does exist, even though you have no real evidence that leads you to believe this unless you accept that the Bible was authored by a supernatural being which begs another question: why would an all knowing being include a bunch of nonsense in his book (creation in a week, 6,000 year old earth, Jonah's story, virgin birth, resurrection, global flood, all animals ever AND dinosaurs in one Ark, etc. etc.)? Wouldn't you expect an all knowing being to get basic facts of how life works right in his own book? But I digress; you probably also attribute random good deeds as gifts from God while bad things that happen are either just some strange part of "God's plan" or punishment for your sins or maybe something even more absurd. But what about all the sick and starving kids in impoverished countries? Why do you think that God would answer your prayer and give you a raise or some other material thing you selfishly pray for while ignoring the sick and impoverished children in other countries? People also claim that God has cured sicknesses, but why has God not answered a prayer of a single amputee or person that is born without a limb? If God has designed the universe and everything in it, then why did he design birth defects, cancer, AIDS, and the other millions of diseases and conditions that plague mankind? None of these things make ANY sense if you believe that an all-knowing, all-powerful being is running the show behind the scenes and is taking an active role in all of our lives.
If you live life with the presupposition that God does not exist, things make a lot more sense. Why would you get a raise while other kids starve to death? Simply because God is not real so he can't help the starving kids, and your boss chose to give you the raise because he thought you deserved it. Why doesn't God regenerate the limbs of amputees? Because he is not real and can't heal sickness, and the very, very few instances of sicknesses that have been "healed through prayer" are mere conincidences. Why do birth defects, cancer, AIDS, and other diseases exist? Because the replication process that DNA goes through is not always perfect, and many microscopic germs and virii evolve to combat our modern medicine.
You are correct in saying that there is no absolute conclusive evidence to show how the inital spark of life happened or how the universe came to be. However, we ("we" meaning those of us that are educated) know that evolution is a fact, which means that mankind was not created, and the earth is older than 6,000 years, which therefore nullifies God's word. Also, the claim that certain proteins must be present to replicate RNA and DNA is true. However, the Miller-Urey experiment yielded several basic proteins and amino acids that could have easily accomplish the task over the course of 2.5 BILLION years.
The question of how things began 4.5 billion years ago has yet to be conclusively answered, but we can say for certain with the knowledge we have at this point that it was NOT because of the Judeo-Christian God. Sure, maybe an omniscient supernatural being sparked the creation of the universe, but that is certainly the end of any interaction from any supernatural being in any of our lives.
