My criticism of Bush was, in my humble opinion, wholly deserved.
I do criticize Obama for renewing the Patriot Act. Luckily, he's not renewing or enforcing many of the provisions I dislike.
Recall the Patriot Act was RUSHED through Congress on the erroneous, and probably intentionally false assertions that we had, all of a sudden, a WAR on TERRORISM. Many of the FACTS asserted which the administration claimed necessitated the passage of the Act were untrue. And, come on, who could possibly vote against the Act after 9-11? Do you remember the Patriotism that Bush had on his side? Get real.
Bush and detainees.
Here's a fun one. Once we've taken these men, accused them of crimes against the Nation, and held them, some for 6-7 years, what do you expect Obama to do? Let them go? Yeah, right. We created these people, and then Bush just said "Here, they're yours now. Deal with them" This is a real issue, and there is no easy solution. You will notice, however, that some have in fact been released.
Re Medicare and Mediciad. Before I asnwer this, let's look at your statement. "...knowing we have 50 years of failing experience ..." Huh? Tell the people on Medicare the system has failed. How soon we forget "Keep the Government's hands of my Medicare!" Funding and abuse are one thing, granted. But FAILING? I don't know that that's a valid argument. Plus, when you look at Medicare, you must recall that it's always been a subsidized endeavor. It never was intended to make money. It's like our Post Office is 200 years of failure. Yeah. Right.
Frame your argument better, and I'll listen. But to simply say the Government can't run Healthcare because they can't run medicare is wrong, and not a valid argument. It's as if you're implying Government can't run anything. The military, defense, the Highway system, Courts, anything. Or are you saying the Government can't run anything that deals with doctors. Which is it? I'm really curious.
It's quite obvious the government can, and should, run healthcare. That's more basic than just about anything, other than the military. And if you want to tell me the military should be privatized.....
When you talk about my response to a very specific concern regarding my DEMAND for socialized Medicine, I don't have any idea what you're talking about. Repaat the question, if you don't mind.
Tell me again why Government can't run a national health care plan, but can be expected to run the Military, or anything for that matter? Answer that question.
And show me how the government has screwed up Medicare and Medicaid. Let me help. Underfunded can be resolved. Raise taxes and cut waste. But you won't stand for that, I bet. Don't worry about grandma, just tell her to hurry up and die, right?
Let's see your answers to these questions. And re state whatever mysterious question you refer to that I didn't answer. I'll get back to you.
