Halloween in August? Yes indeed at Kreepfest, those who enjoy the spooky fun of Halloween gather together to share tips, tricks, and ideas as well as learn a few new ones. A non-commercial, free to the public haunt convention where everyone is welcome to come and join the fun, Kreepfest runs from Friday, August 1 to Sunday August 3 at the Youth Building, 305 Wall Street in Harrisonville, MO.
Kreepfest is a gathering held each August since 2002, where yard and home haunters, those who decorate their yard for the Halloween season, as well as those who run charity, semi-pro, and professional haunted houses may gather to share ideas, give feedback on products in the industry, and get back in touch with old friends and learn new tricks to spook up their display.
Friday evening at 8 PM we gather at the Youth Building for Monster Movie Mania night. Our main feature is the incomparable cinematic gem "Hillbillys in a Haunted House" starring Merle Haggard and Lon Chaney Jr.
Saturday is filled with everything from games and prizes to demonstrations on using FM transmitters in your haunt to the creation of a chilling (and cheap) party punch fountain with two heads! There will be an all-you-can-eat potluck BBQ followed by an in depth look at how a simple yard display grew to one of the Midwest's best loved haunts when William Lash tells the tale behind "Mr. Bill's Thrills" near St. Louis. The morning's activities conclude at 5PM with our Door-Prize give-away.
Saturday evening at 8:00 PM, join us at Rooster's Steakhouse 900 N. Commercial, Harrisonville, for Zombie Prom. Throw on your toxic tux or your most gruesome gown and join the dancing undead in their glamorous finest to dine, drink, and dance the night away.
Sunday brings us back to the cool embrace of the Youth Building where, after a catered breakfast provided by the folks of Middle of Nowhere, Evilizabeth will host the make-and-take tombstone project. Sit and enjoy the fun of making something spooky with people who share your affection for Halloween.
