Design avionics hardware at the block diagram level and at the box level.
Supervise those who design at the circuit board level.
Write requirements, specifications, test procedures, and test reports.
Perform design verification tests, environmental tests, and subsystem-level tests on avionics components.
Manage the flow of avionics components through the design phases, the design reviews, the fabrication phase, the component-level testing, and integration onto the UAV.
Responsible for maintaining status of all avionics components and keeping the project manager informed.

Design real-time, multitasking code for a UAV flight computer. Write software requirements, test plans, test procedures and test reports. Design software using block-diagrams, data flow diagrams, class diagrams, and pseudocode. Design and specify interfaces between software modules, between software and hardware components, and between different computers. Code in high-level languages and perform unit-level testing. Perform subsystem-level testing. Typical software functionality for a UAV includes navigation, mission sequencing, payload control, coordinate transformations, uplink and downlink packet generation and decommutation, converting from one serial protocol to another, simulation, ground based GUIs, and aircraft subsystem control (i.e., engine, electrical system, fuel system).
Coordinates and directs program oversight of all program activities into manufacturing operation at AMS. Directs the development of all manufacturing process upgrades in materials, fabrication technology, equipment and tooling to enure economical and efficient manufacturing processes. Coordinates and directs activities with design engineers in ensuring the manufacturability of all newproducts and development initial product builds to ensure smooth transition to manufacturing through

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for strategic planning, departmental budget planning and establishing goals and targets for the Aurora Mississippi Manufacturing Engineering Department to support the overall facility and company targets and goals.
2. Responsible for establishment, maintenance and continuity of the manufacturing process from plant layout, tooling and equipment design, through delivery to the customer.
3. Coordinates with the Aurora Virginia design engineering team on designs and design changes to ensure effective transition into manufacturing; Schedules MFG Engineering work load to achieve a smooth implementation of work and changes.
4. Works with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to implement production launches.
5. Oversees and leads department staff and identifies, defines, and provides training and mentoring to ME staff.
6. Participates in vendor selection, process development, continuous improvement, and problem resolution.
7. Monitors and supports prototype/pilot build activities in the factory.
8. Approves all Purchase Requisitions generated by the MFG. ENG. Dept.
9. Leads and mentors the MFG. ENG. Dept in skills development (staying abreast of all new technologies with a focus on aerospace composite structures in cutting, molding, and fabrication).

Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferred masters in mechanical engineering management and manufacturing technology preferred.
2. Minimum 10 years of technical and management experience working with in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering program to achieve customer reliability objectives.
Analyzes projected product utilization and calculates cumulative effect on final system reliability of individual part reliabilities. Drafts/manages FMEAs (failure mode and effect analyses) and/or formulates predictive mathematical reliability models using computer-aided engineering equipment to identify excessive failure risks and to support proposed changes in design.
