Seriously..............since you are a photographer then you should have colleagues that are of like profession that would shoot your images for you. HOWEVER.......it doesn't appear as that is the case. I would recommend getting a tripod and putting your camera on it and run to get into position before the flash fires because with that attitude............who seriously is going to JUMP on your ridiculous request Becki Graham? Wow.

Hi all! This is the owner of the original listing, Becki Graham. What you all don't seem to understand is that I don't want to pay $200 for what will be at max, a 50 frame session. I want a quick shoot, possibly even bartered, that will not last more than an hour. Using the "build your folio" angle was the way to sell it, as that is how I got started. Whether you are just getting started or are already a pro I was interested in working a deal. I apologize if I "cheapened" the trade, that was not my intent. I would gladly pay someone for their services $200 if I wanted prints or their time spent editing the photos. If you all had read my listing more carefully, you may have noticed that point and considered it. To the person who said the comment about my "kid not cooperating," yeah, she's under two, she doesn't want to sit quietly with us smiling for the camera. Someone will need to distract her and maker her smile. If you are a professional, or have kids yourself, surely you've dealt with this? Yes, I offer packages of $200, but again, if you looked and considered closely you'd have seen that I offer prints, dollar credits, unlimited time sittings, unlimited shots and extensive enhancing- my time goes beyond being behind the camera and I make it worth your hard earned money. I wanted someone willing to bargain with me as they would have only needed to take the pics, and pop them on a CD for me. THAT'S ALL. I believe it was reasonable to at least ask, as I would have continued using the person going forward for my personal photography needs (which would include paying full price.) You know I've seen some photogs on here offer what is in my opinion, incredibly expensive and limited packages, and even some who charge ridiculous fees just for the CD. But you don't see me on here bad mouthing them? Talk about cheapening the business, at least I live and let live and respect their business decision. It does make me wonder how many of you hatey-hatersons would have actually responded for the job had I not mentioned I was a photographer? How many of these kinds of posts you actually HAVE responded too when the person was just a regular client seeking a small session??? Riiiiiiight. Because let's face it you know it's a legitimate request. You're just mad because, "how dare a professional make such a request." Give me a break.

In this business all you have to do is ask. I'm very flexible and nothing is ever set in stone with me, my clients aren't complaining. If someone had posted the same thing, I would have responded to them and offered a smaller session for them if they only wanted the CD. Especially if they considered using me again later. It's not that hard, it's called being professional and making decisions based on long term goals. I received just as much interest as "hate" from people more tactful in their business choices and I have a lot of respect for them. But like I said, I respect your decisions too and it's your prerogative to do your business the way you want. And it's your prerogative to get on CL and bicker about posts you don't care for like a 15 year old :o)

This is an extension from my grassroots company, Weeco Designs, that designs spaces for children using all sustainable, recycled and green materials. The murals are painted in-studio and brought to your home to be installed. I come to your space, measure the area that is to be painted, and use a thin sheet of wood to paint the mural on. I then cut the mural in 4-6 pieces so that it is easily brought into the home and installed. This way, if you should decide to move, change bedrooms, etc. the mural won't have to be destroyed. The location of the mural is your choice and can last a lifetime, no matter where you live. All themes are welcome, and the child is encouraged to help in the design process. As a professional photographer who makes a living solely by my photography profession, I think it is horrible that other photographers not only cheapen themselves and the industry by offering photography for $25 for a 2 hour session with a CD, but now we have photographers not wanting to pay for photography services??? Seriously, if you need a photographer AND an assistant b/c your kid won't cooperate, you want an hour to an hour and a half of someones time AND you don't want to pay a what a pro charges BUT want pro results, then go find one of the $25 photographers and see what quality you get! lol It sounds like you need to find another profession yourself b/c you don't actually care about this business!

I second the comment below. Photography as an industry is undervalued and cheapened enough as it is. Much more so when "professionals" don't even value their own work enough to pay their colleagues what they're worth. If you want people to actually value your profession, try at least valuing it yourself. At the very least don't cheapen it for those actually trying to make a living of it. Any self-respecting photographer should know how ridiculous & condescending it is for a someone to ask for cheap work because they would be a '"nice addition to any photographer's portfolio". No matter how "beautiful" you think you are, if you're looking for a service, you pay what it's worth. If you're a professional, you should know that. Or rather, "if you are a decent photog I assume you [know] this."

You won't pay $200 somebody for that photosession, but you asking $200 for the same job ??? even for more work???

My name is Becki Graham and I'm a professional photographer (perhaps you've seen my listing on here!) Anyway, I'm looking for someone to take some nice family portraits of my husband, daughter and myself to send out a thanksgiving holiday card to our families. Here is what I want:

-an hour or hour & a half of your time, tops
-Some nice portraits of the three of us, where my child is smiling (you will need a really good assistant who will be able to keep her attention while you shoot, otherwise it won't work)
-Some nice portraits of my husband and I and then each of us separately with our daughter
-Perhaps a few "candid" shots of us laughing, playing, walking - whatever, if you are a decent photog I assume you do this
-I'd like these to be done asap, somewhere outdoors around the KC area, Loose Park, Nelson, Parkville, somewhere pretty. We are availible this Wednesday as my husband is off work, then we'll be availible this coming Saturday anytime.

Here is what I don't want:
-To pay an arm and a leg...
-Prints
-Special Enhancing
-300 Million pictures

Basically all I want is the CD of the high res uneditied images free of copyright. I have a specific eye for what I want our photo to look like and I will do any enhancing necessary. I will pay a resonable price for your time behind the camera, or I'd be willing to barter services and take your picture in return, you tell me.

I'm sorry if this is so blunt, but this is exactly what I want. I'm not going to pay $200 so if that is your best offer for what I have asked, I respect your business decision but you won't need to respond.

So please let me know if you are interested and what you can do for me. This would be a great opportunity if you are looking to expand your portfolio, not to sound conceited but we are a beautiful family who will be a nice addition to any photographer's portfolio. I acquired my fascination with photography through my work as a painter. I am a recent graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute. At the conclusion of my first year of undergraduate study, I came to realize the importance of the photographic image to my work. I sought after pristine, high-quality images to use as reference for painting. It was at this point which I purchased my first DSLR, followed later by a set of studio lighting. I began to feverishly study photography and lighting technique. The endgame was to understand and implement what I was learning; to produce exacting results in my portraiture.

I believe my strength as a photographer comes from my many years of experience with drawing and painting. An understanding of form, light, color, and composition come into play as the camera shutter is released; these elements all serve to lead the viewer through an image. With these concepts in mind, I aim to achieve superior results with each exposure.

Currently, I�m seeking to expand my photography portfolio. My interest lies in creating unique individual and group portraits with modern sensibilities; this includes but is not limited to: child / family photography, headshots, and senior portraits. My name is Leah Martinez. I have been taking photos since I was 11 years old. I have done 4 weddings, 5 graduations, several family photos, engagement photos, and nature photography. I do not have a studio as I like to customize your photos to your liking. You can have them done at your home, in a special place, at a particular park or local park. So, I can come to you or we can drive to a specific place.

I charge $35 per setting as long as we need to capture the setting to your liking. This includes 1 CD with your customized photos on it to print as you please. If you want additonal CD's made for friends or family, they are $5 for each additional CD. I can also make low cost prints in any size for you. I also like to make coffee table books, collage posters, mugs, T-shirts, key chains, greeting cards, etc. These can be made and mailed directly to you when done. These are each their own cost depending on what you would like me to make.
